She is a Technology Trainer at TechCamp Global, a program under the U.S. State Department’s Civil Society (CS) 2.0 initiative that connects civil society organizations (CSOs) across the globe with new and emerging technology resources to solve real world challenges and build digital capacity. Hellen serves as Chapter Leader of New York Women Social Entrepreneurs (NYWSE), a nonprofit promoting young women social entrepreneurs. |

Vice President I Power, Energy & Infrastructer at Lazard 11:50 AM to 12:20 PM Libby Howard joined Lazard in 2015 as a member of the Global Power, Energy & Infrastructure team. From August 2010 – 2015, Ms. Howard served as an Associate and then a Vice President at Citi where she was responsible for advisory assignment execution across a wide variety of corporate finance and M&A transactions in the North American Power and Utilities space. Her assignments ranged from advising buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions to strategic financing alternatives to asset-level transactions. Previously, Ms. Howard was a Senior Financial Analyst at ContourGlobal where she managed complex, emerging markets infrastructure project financings. Ms. Howard began her career in 2006 as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Global Energy Group at Credit Suisse. Primary Patent Examiner at USPTO 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM Kristen Matter is a Generalist Patent Examiner in the Pro Se Assistance Pilot Program. In this role, Kristen works primarily with applicants who file patent applications without the assistance of a registered practitioner. She also assists the NYC Engagement Manager with providing education and outreach on resources offered by the USPTO and the Department of Commerce to independent inventors and entrepreneurs in the New York City area. Before coming to the USPTO, Kristen worked at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, as a research assistant in the Center for Injury Research and Policy. Ms. Matter began her career at the USPTO in 2006 as a patent examiner and became a primary patent examiner in 2011. In 2008, Kristen moved to NYC to attend Fordham Law School part time while continuing in her role as a patent examiner. Ms. Matter is registered to practice law in Ohio and Washington, DC. Kristen received the Department of Commerce Bronze Medal Award for Superior Federal Service in 2013, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association Examiner Award in 2014. In addition to her J.D. from Fordham Law, Kristen received her Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering from The Ohio State University. |

James Liao is currently an Investment Associate at 37 Angels, James is a strong believer in the accelerating growth of female entrepreneurs and investors. James grew up in the Bay Area and studied Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and worked at Intel as a Hardware Design Engineer. He has founded two startups, consulted for over 60 startups in the past several years, and worked as an Investment Banker in Technology, Media and Telecommunications. He also works at Bowery Capital, an early-stage B2B SaaS Venture Capital firm, and leads the Graduate Mentor Program at the Founder Institute in NYC. Furthermore, he is an advisor for Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator, Techstars, and in Deal Operations at Exitround in San Francisco. He has done research in carbon nanotube transistors and printed batteries, and is interested in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Fintech, Marketplaces, and IoT. James has a B.S. from University of California Berkeley and is about to graduate from Columbia Business School.

Previously, she was an Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company and a Director at the Marwood Group. Michelle received her BA from Stanford University in 1993, and also holds an M.Sc from Oxford University and a JD from Columbia Law School.
